What do you do when your emotions start calling the shots?

Jonah 4 gives us one of the strangest endings in the Bible—and maybe one of the most relatable. Jonah obeyed God, watched an entire city experience God’s mercy…and somehow ended up angry, miserable, and sitting outside the city wishing things had gone differently.

In the final week of our Jonah series, Pastor Clint looks at what Jonah’s story teaches us about anger, disappointment, comfort, obedience, and the danger of allowing our feelings to become our master.

We’ll discover that our emotions are real, but they don’t always tell us what is true. God can use both the things that comfort us and the things that disrupt us to change us. And even when our hearts wander from His, we are never more than one turn away from a gracious and compassionate God.

Ultimately, Jonah forces us to ask a bigger question: Do we only want the mercy of God for ourselves, or are we willing to join the mission of God for others?

Because God isn’t finished giving second chances—and every chance from God demands a choice from us.
